10/24/16 Six Items Challenge
What: Could you wear only 6 things for a week? Re(dress) is challenging consumers to join us in a fashion fast to oppose fast fashion. The idea is simple -- you pick six items of clothing from your wardrobe and pledge to only wear these six for a specified period of time. Of course there are exceptions, such as underwear, accessories, shoes, socks, activewear, uniforms, and pajamas. Other than these listed above, the rest of your outfits must remain in the six items you chose for the challenge.
When: Monday, October 24, 2016 - Sunday, October 30, 2016 Where: This can happen anywhere, anytime, for however long you want it to be! Gather a group of friends and bet on who can last the longest, make this a personal goal, or fundraise for Labour Behind the Label, the organization behind this event. For more information, click here. Make sure to check out how our team creatively and resourcefully wore multiple outfits with only 6 pieces here. |

7/25/16 Cinema Night
What: Before getting involved in tackling fast fashion, it's crucial to have a clear and definite idea of what you're even fighting for and against. This groundbreaking documentary will open doors to an entirely different dimension of the fashion industry, which is unfortunately the ugly and harsh reality of what goes on behind the curtains. Filming from the fanciest displays of our clothes in stores to the dirtiest slums of where they are made, director Andrew Morgan asks us to consider what really is the true cost of all we buy - Are they all worth the life of an overworked child, the assault of a female employee, the immorally low wages of a breadwinner of a family? Watch to finally see the untold story that has been kept hidden in the dark for too long.

7/17/16 Come Visit LA's Beautiful Market
During a time when vintage and thrifted are the newest trend, what greater place is there to shop than a flea market?
What: The Melrose Trading Post is a flea market that opens from 10am - 4pm every Sunday in Fairfax High School. Vendors line up in rows and rows of tents along the school's parking lot, selling everything from antiques to one-of-a-kind jewelry to upcycled clothes. It gives a fun and creative spin to your relaxing Sundays as you explore the stalls with your friends and family under the warm LA sun. This upcoming Sunday, my cousin and I are hosting our own mini store here to sell some thrifted jeans, repurposed dresses and shirts, hats, jewelry, and bags.
When: July 17, 2016 at 10am - 4pm (ending time may vary depending on how fast we sell out)
Where: 7850 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046
Come out and be a part of a community with one common goal to make shopping more sustainable.
