First, why the name Re(dress)?
Redress - the setting right of what is wrong
Re(dress) - to undo the damage done by fast fashion and return to a morally wearable wardrobe
Fashion is our chosen skin - we communicate to a certain extent who we are through our clothings. In other words, for a dignified and respectable identity, we need our fashion choices to be dignified and respectable as well.
So let's REDRESS the damage done already to our environment and culture, and RE(DRESS) ourselves for a healthier, more conscious chosen skin.

What inspired you to choose this activity?
I happened to come across an interview of director Andrew Morgan of the documentary “The True Cost,” which is a film that reveals just who really pays for the real price of our clothing. It taught me so much about the detrimental footprint fast fashion leaves on our environment and culture. After watching the documentary, I felt compelled as someone who contributes so much to the damage to change the choices I make and open the eyes of other consumers like me who are simply just not aware of what goes on behind the curtains.
What is your personal investment in your activity?
I am a high school student who wears shitty clothing, clothing that each and every one of us on this planet buy and wear. I strongly believe that a change in fashion choices can happen if more and more people are just aware of the social injustices faced by the workers and the environmental damage the industry leaves. These unheard stories are much too compelling to be ignored once read, which I hope will inspire others to join in on this road to creating a friendly industry.
What is your short term goal?
I want to recycle, trade off, and revamp old clothes to make our own green closets. I would love to see interest in sustainability develop among my local community, including our friends and family first. I also want the blog to spark awareness and interest and our more tangent repurposing of clothes to influence others to do the same.
What is your ultimate goal?
Ultimately, I strive to create a community of consumers who are actively seeking answers to the veiled aspects of the fashion industry and truly taking part in a fashion revolution. I want people to begin to ask who makes their clothing, wonder what products are gone into the process, and make smarter shopping choices to contribute to making a sustainable environment. When more and more people realize how easy it is to repurpose clothes or not to shop impulsively, I know they will start incorporating small changes into their lives that will eventually accumulate to a deep imprint on our culture. After all, we as the consumers, have the power to transform the market in any way we want.
